Silly Signs

Maybe I have a warped sense of humor?  Hopefully none of these signs will offend or disgust - they are all REAL!

As an observer of drivers here - I'm worried too!

Chop is food.  "I have nothing to chop" means I have nothing to eat.  Chop Bars are very small, I guess you could call them restaurant.  The name of this one is "Don't Mind Your Wife" - because you can eat there instead?

I really couldn't figure out what they're trying to say or sell - the grammar and the pictures were funny!

This sign is near a bridge.  I guess there are legalities involved with superstition.

Not sure if the name of the provision store is a reminder to them, or their customers.  The taxi driver in front with the hood up needs to work on his prayers I guess!

I was rolling on the floor with this one - I don't have any words for it!

I took this one because of the posing model thinking my daughter would get a kick out of it.

Another posing model  - did you know that olive oil helps you to relax gently?

I can't believe a bank would want the image or reputation of this billboard.  The woman customer is wearing the bankers jacket and pulling him by his tie.  They must be under the false impression that sex sells?

There are many "Do Not Urinate Here" signs.  This one is for those that can't read?

Public education at its best!

Worms are a problem here.  You see a lot of children who have bald spots on their head from them.  I was told they can get some of them from playing in the dirt.  Just not the kind of sign you see in my homeland.

You see these signs everywhere on the highway (which is only a 2 land road).  Everyone goes at least double the speed limit consistently.  I'll do a post on driving some day!

Most public "washrooms" are at best like an outhouse.  Some don't even have toilets or seats.  Use your imagination.

We took a picture of the sign on the back of our hotel room.  I thought some of the "rules" were very interesting!

This sign is in every bathroom at the MTC and yes, unfortunately the instruction IS necessary.

Most churches have this type of sign in the washroom.  See above.

True!

You'd think they would take this down since it didn't happen!

Proof of false Christs!

Doxycycline is anti-malaria medication that must be taken by missionaries everyday.  This sign is used by the area doctor to put fear into missionaries to take theirs.  They seem to think that it is a badge of honor to get Malaria and so they won't take it.  It is the biggest killer in Ghana!

This is another problem - especially at the beach.  Amazing!

  1. Wow holy moly! Suzanne, you are not in Kansas anymore are you? Todd and I are still shaking our heads at some of those signs. Unbelievable! Thanks for the culture for today!

  3. Pretty amazing! We saw some funny signs in Germany. I think "Asfahrt" was either an entrance or exit sign. The kids got a kick out of it especially. It's so cool that you are catching all of this culture and recording it!
