Akwaaba Stephen and Meriem

The 2nd day we were in Cape Coast, we filled up the car at this gas station.  You pre-pay the gas with a full service attendant.  Stephen asked us why no one has ever taught him.  He saw missionaries all the time and wanted to know more about Jesus Christ.  We gave him a copy of The Restoration pamphlet with our phone number on the back.  He said he would read it and call us.  We didn't expect that he would, but one day Elder Asay saw him on the corner and waved.  He remembered us and called.  We set up a time to visit at the Mission Office.  It was pouring rain, but he and his wife Meriem and their children Lisa and Jerard caught a cab and came to the Mission Office.  Elder Eke did the split with us and taught them about making covenants.  They were sincere and interested in learning more.  We gave them information about attending church, answered some of their questions and gave them The Gospel of Jesus Christ pamphlet with the contact information of missionaries that live near them.

They've come to church every week since then.  Sister Anyango and Sister Idiagi taught them the Gospel.  We also met with them several times for Family Home Evening etc.  It was amazing to see their transformation over this period of time.  They had the light of Christ in their eyes and couldn't stop smiling!  They were very excited to tell us that they wanted to be baptized and asked if Elder Asay would baptise them.  Of course he was honored.

It was a wonderful service and well attended by Ward members who welcomed them by saying "Akwaaba" which means welcome or we are grateful.  I will add their conversion story and testimonies when they finish them.  This is what it's all about!
